The Social Media Phenomenon
Social Media has profoundly changed our culture by changing the method and manner in which we communicate with one another. And as we all know, wherever the people go, the businesses follow. Social media and the Internet have allowed people to make purchasing decisions based on user reviews, online research, and any website that mentions your company or product. Even if you’re not saying anything about your product, others are.
Many companies embrace social media as a way to reach and interact with their customers and to attract new ones. Your goal is to look for an exposure level that is just right. Don’t try to be everywhere and don’t update your Twitter account every 3 minutes. Be sure that every post has a purpose, because if you’re tweeting just to increase exposure, they may stop following you. Engage with your followers and provide them with interesting or informational material. It isn’t a good idea to put yourself on too many social media sites either; because if you don’t have the manpower to monitor, update, and interact with your audiences, then none of them will visit your site or check your irregular posts. Try to use social media by choosing a few key outlets and really engage in those social networking communities.
Twitter and Facebook feeds change so fast that users may never see your business updates. Because of the numerous amount of blog posts and YouTube videos, a particular message can be impossible to find without a direct link. It is also a good idea to re-tweet and re-post content with a different tag line or title to gather a wider appeal from your audience.
